I didn’t get to watch anything last night because of bowling. I’m eager to see Ugly Betty, CSI, Back to You etc. The tivo is at 60 % full.

Today it’s raining again in Los Angeles. That’s twice in a week now which is an amazing and rare occurrence for L.A. I’ve always loved the rain, but appreciate it more here. Not just because it’s the desert, nor because it seem to purge the smog from the air, but it has this internal healing and cleansing nature. It reminds me that while it may be dark today, that tomorrow there will be blossoms BECAUSE of this storm. It makes me smile and brings me a great peace.

I appreciate and look forward to days like today.

Premiere Week 2 – Thursday, September 27th

September 27, 2007 at 11:12 am (babbling, Entertainment, TV) (, )

A FULL schedule tonight and I’m sure your tivo’s are getting used to their fullest potential.

Tonight’s Premieres –

ABC: Ugly Betty at 8p (I WILL TIVO), Grey’s Anatomy at 9p (I WILL TIVO) and Big Shots at 10p (PASS)

The CW: Smallville at 8p (TIVO)

NBC: My Name Is Earl at 8p (TV ON DVD), The Office at 9p (TV ON DVD) and ER at 10p (PASS – WILL SOMEONE PLEASE CANCEL THIS?!?! PLEASE!!!

CBS: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation at 9p (TIVO) and Without a Trace at 10p

Spike TV: TNA: iMPACT

Last night I caught up and watched Reaper.  Overall I didn’t like it, but I think it’s geered to High School kids.

The House premiere was good, as expected.  I liked it and look forward to seeing where they are going to go and how the new cast is.

Top Model – damn they sure are stretching for new ideas.  I liked the smoking photoshoot, but making the girls not smoke??  Especially without counseling?  And wasn’t there a show that already did this called “Cold Turkey.”

In other TV News:  “Knight Rider may be back!  NBC is looking at a 2-hour pilot, which may first air as a made-for later on this season, and if well received could get the order for a series, says Variety. The project comes from Dutch Oven Prods and Universal Media Studios.” (From Cynopsis)  Ugh?!?! Can that really be good?!?!?!

Premiere Week 2 – Wednesday, September 26th

September 26, 2007 at 8:54 am (babbling, Entertainment, TV) (, , )

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce the award for the first programming change of the season goes to… FOX!!!! Fox has pulled Nashville off the Friday night lineup, replacing it with repeats of K-Ville for the next two weeks before baseball kicks in on October 12th. The show has not been canceled YET, merely delayed until after the baseball season.

Tonight’s Premieres –
ABC: Private Practice at 9p (PASS) and Dirty Sexy Money at 10p (MIGHT WATCH IF IT REVIEWS WELL)
CBS: Criminal Minds at 9p (WILL TIVO and see what it’s like without Mandy P.) and CSI: NY at 10p (PASS – STILL)
NBC: Bionic Woman at 9p (WILL TIVO the SCI FI Channel re-air Friday PM) and Life at 10p
SCI FI Channel: Ghost Hunters at 9p (PASS)

Tonight Finales –
BBC America: Hotel Babylon at 9p
Bravo: Top Chef 3 Miami at 10p (part 1)
TBS: Tyler Perry’s House of Payne at 10p

I didn’t get a chance to watch any of the recorded shows last night because we were out and about avoiding home. We went and wished our friend a Happy 35th Birthday, and then helped another set of friends eat the yummy homemade potato soup. Sam and I aren’t ones who like controversy, and yet the last few months we’ve known about several problems that have been occurring in one of our peer groups.  Finally after MUCH prayer and thought and reflection we had to throw a hand-grenade at the problem.  We tried to take the high-road and stuck to our own story.  But we are hoping this so called hand-grenade opens the arena for discussion and healing.  To much divide and conquer was taking place.

It was the perfect night to be out, to both get some fresh air and spend time with people we know care about us.

Premiere Week 2 – Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

September 25, 2007 at 9:11 am (babbling, Entertainment, TV) (, , , , )

Tonight’s Premieres –
CBS: NCIS at 8p, The Unit at 9p and Cane at 10p
FOX: Bones at 8p and House at 9p
The CW: Reaper at 9p
BBC America: Ultimate Force at 9p
ABC: Boston Legal at 930p
NBC: Law & Order: SVU at 10p

Last night I had the chance to watch the new Heroes which made me wish they would only follow the Hiro story line.  To me, it was the only interesting bit of the night.  I could care less about the cheerleader, or Nathan and his “drinking problem,”  or even Mohinder.  DULL – yawn, not enough information.  I was saddened by the one death, and a little curious about the one character who appears to have become evil…. but still.  Only 1 super interesting story line?? It’s going to drive me crazy like Lost I fear.  I hope not, but hey I’m a skeptic.

Speaking of skeptic:  one of the new shows I thought would suck surprised me pleasantly last night, Chuck.  It cracked me up.  I loved the chemistry of the characters,  they pulled off the story nicely and then they had an awesome chase scene.  The subtitles of looks, the heart, the explosions all pulled me in.  It was great.  I hope this one lasts.

Journeyman put me to sleep so I don’t think it was that great.   Let me know if any of you saw it and disagree.

Premiere Week 2 – Monday, September 24th

September 24, 2007 at 9:39 am (Entertainment, TV, Uncategorized)

Tonight’s Premieres –
ABC: Dancing with the Stars at 8p and The Bachelor at 930p
CBS: How I Met Your Mother at 8p, The Big Bang Theory at 830p, Two and a Half Men at 9p, Rules of Engagement at 930p and CSI: Miami at 10p
NBC: Chuck at 8p, Heroes at 9p and Journeyman at 10p

Tonight’s Finales –
MYNET: IFC Battleground at 8p
VH1: The Pick-Up Artist at 9p

I will tivo Heroes and Journeyman.

Shows I caught up on:   Kitchen Nightmares was GREAT!!! This is how reality shows should be all the time!!! First off the family that was cast was perfect:  emotional, dramatic and full of problems.  Secondly I love how Chef Ramsey puts his foot down and kicks butt.  Thirdly A LOAN SHARK?? This couldn’t have been any better if they had scripted it.  AWESOME!!   This is the first reality show in awhile that makes me sit up and take notice.

Top Model:  well, it was mildly entertaining although makes me thankful for liking food, and not knowing too many bitchy stupid girls like that.   The girls are all young, tall and leggy.  They are very “model” looking (while there have been a few seasons where they seemed to be cast more so for their personalities).  So far my favorite is the underdog:  Heather who had Asperger’s disease which is a mild version of autism.  Typically the show rotates between different nationalities to who wins each season.  Technically that would make this a white girl season.  I think I will be a casual watcher (not adding it to the tivo, but if I’m home and bored I will turn it on.)

This weekend on TV

September 21, 2007 at 8:41 am (babbling, Entertainment, TV)

Finishing out the most lack-luster premiere week in history is….

Tonight’s Premieres –
The CW: Friday Night Smackdown! at 8p

Tonight’s Finales –
SCI FI Channel: Painkiller Jane at 10p

Sunday’s Premieres –
CBS: 60 Minutes at 7p, Cold Case at 9p and Shark at 10p
The CW: CW Now at 7p and Online Nation at 730p
FOX: The Simpsons at 8p, King of the Hill at 830p and Family Guy at 9p

Sunday’s Finales –
CBS: Power of Ten at 8p
IFC: The Business at 11p and The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman at 1130p

So perhaps the only night worth watching or tivo.ing is Sunday with Simpsons and Family Guy so we can all have a bit of comedy and relax before the new week starts!

Tonight in TV, Yesterday in Food, Tomorrow in Life

September 20, 2007 at 11:29 am (babbling, Entertainment, Food, Friends, TV)

Let’s get the boring TV stuff out of the way first…

Tonight’s Premieres –
CBS: Survivor: China at 8p

Tonight’s Finales –
USA: Burn Notice at 10p (NOTE: this is 2 hours)

Sam will be watching Burn Notice sometime this weekend, as we aren’t home tonight.

Last night my Foodies group hit up Providence on Melrose. If you haven’t been there yet I highly recommend you save your pennies and go.  You can read about it on our Foodies’ Group new blog.  It’s a great group of people to enjoy the art of food with.

Tonight I get to play with “The Fever” and their bowling team.  I’m an alt player and one of the teammates is away.  I’m looking forward to it!!

Tomorrow?? Well I have nothing planned, perhaps a relaxing evening with the hubby on the couch.  Perhaps a little Jericho Season 1.  Who knows?? Either way it will be an adventure.

Tomorrow you should have a food review with some photos on here because tonight is my Foodies group and we are hitting up “Providence.”  It’s one of America’s Top 50 Restaurants.

New Shows TONIGHT – Tuesday, September 18th and some babbling…

September 18, 2007 at 9:07 am (babbling, Entertainment, TV)

Tonight’s Premieres –
The CW:  Beauty and the Geek at 8p
Tonight’s Finales –
ABC:  Just for Laughs at 830p
CBS:  Big Brother at 9p

I will be posting every day during Premiere week to make sure that I don’t miss the few shows I want to see, and you don’t miss the other shows you want to see.  It will also help make sure you don’t waste your time on a night like tonight where not much is airing hoping that something good is on – when it’s not yet.

Last night I had an awesome and relaxing evening.  I went speed walking with a friend, then had a peaceful evening with Sam.  He made a yummy salmon dinner.  I should have took a photo of it (sorry Larissa).  Look isn’t he cute though:

the-ebnets_2.jpg

I’m reading a book called Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation into Civilization’s End by Lawrence E. Joseph.  It’s quite frightening.  Lawrence started his journey because of the knowledge that the Mayan Calendar ends on 12/21/12 when the earth is in perfect alignment with the center of the milky way.  He then goes and researches all the technology and science that could possibly destroy civilization within the next 5 years.  For me I keep thinking if the end was tomorrow, how would I live my life different… and if it’s not how I’m living now, what does that mean.

If the end of the world was in 5 years and you knew that for sure, what would you do differently today?  What if it were in 1 year?
